Here's what happened next at the table:

Scoring: IMP

(P) - 1 - (P) - 1
(Dbl) - P! - (1) - 2!
(P) - 2 - (Dbl) - P
(P) - 3 - (P) - 3!
(Dbl) - ?

I'm sure many of you will disagree with pass. So you will have to suppose you were called in to sub. I chose it in part to see what partner would bid and also since I knew I would soon have a cuebid available to force. One risk I didn't really think about was it passing out. Luckily it didn't and partner has emerged with 2. So I carried out my plan and cuebid 2. This went back around to me and I bid 3 (again there were various options like redoubling to show first round control). But partner emerges with 3!

What now?

This is hard since I don't like pass or 2, especially pass I just don't understand how it would help me at all. I guess if called in to sub at this point I would redouble to show first round control, planning to bid 4 next. All partner needs for slam really is Axxx of clubs, or Qxxx and a stiff spade.
Please let me know about any questions or interest or bug reports about GIB.

I'm too confused to offer something coherent.

What the heck was 3 hearts?

I'm not sure what is best here. I'd already confused the auction so much. I'm not sure XX here should show first round control. Why didn't I redouble the 2 call to show first round control? (Perhaps I should have.) Visualizing that we can make slam opposite a singleton spade and the Q or a doubleton spade and the A, I just punted 6 here.

Partner turned out to have been convoluting things much worse than I had:

Txx Txx Jxx Axxx

Unfortunately, did not break (although trumps were 2-1), so were down 1 for -50.

Amazingly enough, this was a win of 2 imps for us. The auction at the other table went:

1 - 2 - 2 - All Pass

And teammates made +110. Funny game sometimes.
